FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification
FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification 22000) is a food safety management system standard that integrates the ISO 22000 food safety management system standard and the technical specifications for sector PRPs (pre-requisite programs) into a single certification. It is a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognized scheme, which means it meets the internationally recognized benchmarking requirements for food safety management systems.
The FSSC 22000 standard is designed to provide a framework for effectively managing food safety and quality responsibilities. It covers the entire food supply chain from farm to fork and requires the establishment of documented food safety management systems, as well as the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and other industry-specific requirements.
The benefits of FSSC 22000 certification include:
Enhanced food safety and quality: The FSSC 22000 standard helps to identify and control food safety hazards throughout the supply chain, reducing the risk of foodborne illnesses and product recalls.
Improved market access: FSSC 22000 certification is recognized and accepted by major food retailers and manufacturers, providing access to new markets and customers.
Regulatory compliance: The FSSC 22000 standard is based on international regulations and standards, helping companies to meet local and global food safety regulatory requirements.
Cost savings: By identifying and controlling food safety hazards, companies can reduce the costs associated with product recalls, liability claims, and lost sales.
Continuous improvement: FSSC 22000 certification requires ongoing monitoring and improvement of food safety management systems, helping companies to stay ahead of changing market demands and emerging risks.
