REACH Certificate
The REACH certificate refers to compliance with the REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals), which is a regulation adopted by the European Union to protect human health and the environment from risks posed by chemicals. This regulation requires manufacturers and importers of chemicals in the EU to:
Register: All substances produced or imported in quantities of one ton or more per year must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
Evaluate: The ECHA evaluates the data submitted to ensure chemicals do not pose a high risk to human health or the environment.
Authorize and Restrict: Some chemicals may require specific authorization to be used, and harmful chemicals can be restricted or phased out.
A REACH certificate or REACH compliance document typically serves as proof that a product or substance complies with REACH requirements. It’s especially relevant for products sold within the EU, as it ensures that any chemical substances used or contained in products do not exceed the regulatory thresholds for safety and environmental standards.
The REACH certificate is often needed by importers, distributors, and retailers, as it helps assure customers and regulators that products are safe and compliant with EU chemical standards.
